Zenner/Selih: Human Rights and Refugees

The Human Rights Committee (HRC) of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina is made up of academy members from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. It supports scientists, whose activities are suppressed and constrained, through letters, statements and the organisation of events. The 2016 conference, co-organised by the Slovenian Academy of Sciences, focused on the migration and integration of refugees and migrants traveling from the Middle East, Africa and other parts of the world to Europe. Emphasis was on aspects such as human rights, the possibilities surrounding border management, and the role of Germany and Slovenia as host countries.
